"Resilience" emerged in 2023, when I had the privilege of meeting three remarkable women: Mathilde, Camille and Natalie who are brought together by a shared passion: handball basketball. In my view, these women exemplify the very essence of the word 'resilience'. Over the course of several months, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to follow them, get to know them better and gain insight into their individual journeys.
Each of them lives with a disability, whether it was present at birth or developed later in life. They have had to learn to accept and adapt to this new reality, which has undoubtedly been a challenging process. Through handi-basketball, they have found not only a source of self-transcendence, but also a collective force that unites them.
This photographic project is the result of my continued observation and involvement with these women. It combines documentary-style images, which capture the authentic reality of their daily lives, with more staged photos, which symbolise their strength and determination. My intention with 'Resilience' is twofold: to offer a message of hope, and to highlight the courage and perseverance of these three women, whose journey is deeply inspiring.
